CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 2024 KLIS - Guangyang Island Cycling Open, the largest international cycling event in western China, kicked off on July 28, attracting 800 participants.
After more than three hours of fierce competition, 110 athletes in five groups such as the women's open group of road cycling, the men's open group of road cycling, the women's open group of mountain cycling, the men's elite group of mountain cycling, and the men's master group of mountain cycling won awards. At the same time, the public cycling group also successfully finished the race.
The beautiful cycling track on Guangyang Island presented a breathtaking appearance during the event. While cycling along the track, the athletes were able to embrace the magnificence of nature and experience the humanistic landscape and local customs of Chongqing.
In the future, the organizing committee will conduct cycling activities in different seasons, enabling the majority of cycling enthusiasts to enjoy the scenery of Guangyang Island all year round while having an exciting cycling journey.
To assist the athletes in preventing heatstroke and cooling down, the organizing committee installed 20 sets of cooling spray apparatuses and prepared diverse sorts of refreshing desserts for the athletes, such as watermelons, ice creams, and energy drinks.
"This is a detail that very few other events take into account, and it is very friendly to us," said a participant from Hunan. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
