In recent years, Chongqing has become one of the popular entry places for overseas tourists visiting China. Driven by a series of policies facilitating the travel, business, study, work, and life of foreigners in China, the number of inbound and outbound travelers at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has continued to surge, with the 144-hour visa-free transit policy and other visa-free policies, as well as the facilitation measures such as exempting foreign nationals on 24-hour direct transit from going through border inspection formalities, being well received by international travelers.

At the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, 26 international (regional) passenger routes are in operation, reaching cities like Seattle, London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Milan, Budapest, Sydney, Doha, Dubai, Singapore, Seoul, and Osaka, and forming an international route network that covers North America, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, South Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, since the start of 2024, the General Station of Chongqing Immigration Inspection has handled more than 820,000 Chinese citizens, which shown an increase of more than one time compared to the same period last year and accounted for 80% of the total number of inbound and outbound passengers at the airport. The top three destinations for Chinese citizens are Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The Chongqing Border Inspection Station reminds tourists that it is the peak season for travel, with the continuous upsurge in outbound tourism, overseas study, and research tours. The Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has seen a surge in travelers, with the daily number of inbound and outbound passengers averaging 6,266. The peak traffic hours for outbound travel start from 06:00 to 10:00 and for inbound travel from 17:00 to 19:00.
