Chongqing establishes sister city relationships with Seville in Spain and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia respectively

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On July 31, the 10th Session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress voted to approve the Decision of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress on Agreeing to the Establishment of Sister City Relationships between Chongqing and Seville in Spain and the Decision of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People's Congress on Agreeing to the Establishment of Sister City Relationships between Chongqing and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

Seville is the capital of the Andalusia Autonomous Region and Seville Province in Spain, and the fourth-largest city in Spain and the largest city in the southern region, serving as a significant city for the economy, trade, tourism and culture in southern Spain, with a well-developed agriculture and animal husbandry. The exchanges between Chongqing and Seville have been increasingly closer.

Addis Ababa is the capital of Ethiopia, the headquarters of the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and several international organizations, and also the economic center of Ethiopia. Chongqing has worked with the Ethiopian Embassy and Consulates in China to jointly hold multiple economic and trade promotion activities and Ethiopian theme day activities in Chongqing, which have deepened economic & trade and cultural exchanges.

The establishment of the sister city relationships between Chongqing and Seville in Spain and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, will actively promote Chongqing's high-quality participation in the “Belt and Road Initiative”, continuously expand its network of international partnership, accelerate the construction of Chongqing as an international exchange center in the central and western regions of China, and play a positive role in helping open a chapter for a modern Chongqing with Chinese characteristics.
