CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The reporter learned from the Chongqing Airport Group that the flight calibration for the newly built fourth runway at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, which lasted over 20 days, was completed successfully on August 1. All the calibration items met the required technical requirements, making the runway ready for use.

Flight calibration is a precondition for the operation of the runway-taxiway system, and it involves conducting inspections and tests on related safeguards system through flight calibration aircraft equipped with specialized calibration equipment. After tested, it was found that the runway-taxiway system of the fourth runway at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, along with its related navigation equipment, airfield lighting system, approach and departure procedures, etc. Were all deemed available for use, which will lay a solid foundation for following trial flights and official operation.

This flight calibration the fourth runway at the Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport was carried out and completed by an experienced crew from the Flight Calibration Center of the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This crew have previously participated in the flight calibration for Beijing Daxing International Airport, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Kunming Changshui International Airport, etc.

At present, the construction of the curtain wall and metal roof of the T3B Terminal is nearly completed, with large-scale interior decoration and installation of mechanical & electrical equipment and weak current equipment in process. The construction of T3B Terminal and the fourth runway is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, and the terminal is planned to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. By then, a layout with 4 runways and 4 terminals will be formed at the Jiangbei Airport, accommodating a passenger throughput of 80 million, 580,000 aircraft movements, and cargo and mail throughput of 1.2 million tons every year, further enhancing its capacity as an international aviation hub.
