CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On August 2, 2024, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, and when the flight from Chongqing to Kuala Lumpur was increased and the flight to Penang was launched, the delegate of Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission appeared at the MITM Travel Fair 2024, and "Nihao Chongqing" Kuala Lumpur Cultural and Tourism Promotion Conference was successfully held that afternoon (Kuala Lumpur local time), further consolidating and expanding the Southeast Asian tourist market.

It is reported that this event, hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission and the China Cultural Centre Kuala Lumpur, was aimed to precisely launch a series of products and routes targeting the Malaysian market to attract tourists to Chongqing.

In the center of the fair, the promotional videos made by Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission were repeatedly played on the large screen, to attract exhibitors and visitors from various countries to the China pavilion. The Chongqing booth showcased Chongqing's cultural and tourism resources, represented by the Yangtze River Three Gorges, World Natural Heritage sites, World Cultural Heritage sites and the 8D Magic City.

According to data from Ctrip, as of June this year, Malaysia ranks as the fourth largest source country for inbound tourists to China. The number of bookings of Malaysian tourists to China surged more than four times compared to the same period last year, and Chongqing has become one of the top ten favorite cities in China for Malaysian tourists; Data shows that in the first half of this year, overnight tourists from Malaysia to Chongqing accounted for some 16% of the total number of inbound overnight tourists to Chongqing, making Malaysia the top source country for tourists to Chongqing.
