This event marked the debut of the mixed relay marathon race walk at the Olympics, featuring 25 teams. Ultimately, the Spanish duo Martin and Perez clinched the championship with a time of 2 hours, 50 minutes, and 31 seconds. The Chinese team of He Xianghong and Qieyang Shijie finished 14th, while Zhang Jun and Yang Jiayu finished 15th.

At the Chongqing Institute of Sports Techniques and the Physical Education College of Southwest University, He Xianghong's coaches and junior teammates gathered to watch the event and cheer him on.

At the start of the race, He Xianghong took the lead-off leg as he stepped onto the relay track, igniting excitement in the classroom where the live broadcast was being watched. Everyone followed the race closely, cheering for the Chinese team.

Both Chinese teams faced penalties and stops that hindered their medal prospects in the race.

Although the final result was disappointing, He Xianghong remained undeterred.

"Competitive sports are both captivating and harsh. Thank you all for your support. Please thank my classmates for me. I won't give up and will start anew!" He Xianghong shared on social media in response to his counselor's concern after the race.

"We will analyze this race and address our shortcomings," said He Xianghong's coach, Shi Yang, in Chongqing. "We will be fully prepared for the 15th National Games next year." (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
