CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the bustling summer travel season draws to a close, the Chongqing railway system is experiencing a significant surge in student passengers returning to their campuses. With the start of the new academic year approaching for many universities, the period between August 21 and August 31 is expected to see Chongqing Railway handle approximately 2.35 million passengers, with students making up around 3% of this total. The primary destinations for these travelers include major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Zhengzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Chengdu.

To ensure a safe and orderly travel experience for the large number of student passengers, Chongqing Railway Station has implemented a series of measures. By closely analyzing travel patterns of students leaving and returning to school, the station has enhanced its ability to predict and manage passenger flow, adding extra trains and coupling more units to existing services to maximize capacity to meet student travel demand. Additionally, the station has optimized its ticketing strategies, making it easier for students to purchase tickets, including setting up dedicated student service windows and streamlining the process for those with admission notices. These efforts ensure students can secure their tickets more efficiently, with services available through multiple channels. To further enhance the travel experience, the station has opened convenient transfer channels within the facility and strengthened passenger flow management at key points, such as entrances, waiting halls, and ticket-checking gates. Extra staff have been deployed in these areas to assist travelers, while young volunteers are actively providing information and guidance in crowded areas, ensuring that students enjoy a safer, more comfortable, and convenient journey.

For incoming freshmen traveling on discounted tickets with their admission notices (including electronic versions) on trains operated by the Chongqing Passenger Transport Section, the verification process has been simplified. Now, only the destination station (or the final destination of a valid connecting ticket) needs to be confirmed as the location of the student's school, and it is no longer necessary to verify their eligibility for the discount. Train conductors also play a crucial role in assisting students who need to transfer, offering guidance at intermediate stations or for those holding connecting tickets. Moreover, during the ticket inspection process, if conductors notice multiple freshmen from the same school, they may introduce them to each other, fostering connections among new students. Given the high volume of summer travelers and the abundance of luggage, conductors also proactively share safety tips and information about lost-and-found services with students and their companions. They remind them to keep a close eye on their belongings to avoid any mishaps. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
