A 3-year-old cat flying with its owner on West Air as the first "pet passenger"

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On August 27, on West Air flight PN6247 from Chongqing to Rizhao, there was a special "passenger" onboard—a cute 3-year-old Ragdoll cat named "Tuantuan." It became the first "pet passenger" in West Air's history to fly with its owner.

It is learned that Ms. Zhou, a passenger, called West Air by dialing its official customer service hotline, 95373, on August 20 to say that her planned to take flight PN6247 from Chongqing to Rizhao on August 27, specifically requesting to bring her 3-year-old cat, "Tuantuan," along. To ensure that this first "pet passenger" could travel in a comfortable and safe way, West Air took quick action. After confirming that the pet's breed, health status and other necessary information met the transport conditions, they promptly built a dedicated support team and appointed a pet travel advisor to communicate closely with Ms. Zhou.

The day before the flight, the pet travel advisor reminded Ms. Zhou to prepare essential items such as a special protective mesh bag, pet clothes, a muzzle, pet diapers, pet pads, etc. and quarantine related documents, and ensured she could reach the airport with the pet two hours before the flight to complete the check-in procedures.

On the day of the flight, after Ms. Zhou arrived at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport with her pet, the pet travel advisor thoroughly inspected the passenger and pet's supplies, quarantine related documents, and other items according to the procedures. After confirming that all met the transport conditions, they quickly completed the check-in procedures for the passenger and her pet. Additionally, to ensure the safety during flight, the advisor installed a disposable lock on the pet carrier and advised the passenger to keep the it locked during the whole journey.

"This is the second flight for Tuantuan, while the first time it was in the cargo hold. This time we can fly together in the cabin, and I feel so reassured to be with it the whole time," Ms. Zhou said excitedly. Onboard, the pet-friendly flight attendants not only provided thoughtful service to Ms. Zhou but also patiently introduced the "pet-friendly flight" to other passengers. Passengers said it was very heartwarming and enjoyable to share the flight with such a cute "pet baby."

This is first flight of West Air under the HNA Group to allow a single pet in the cabin, marking a successful attempt in the pet-friendly airline service field.

To ensure flight and passenger safety, West Air's in-cabin pet transport service is only for domesticated dogs and cats. Passengers need to dial the official hotline 95373 to book at least 24 hours before the flight and prepare an Animal Quarantine Conformity Certificate (stamped with the special quarantine seal) issued by the Animal Health Supervision Institute and a pet vaccination certificate. Additionally, passengers need to download and complete the Notice on Pet (Cat, Dog) Transportation in Cabin by Western Air "Pleasant Journey for Pets" from the West Air website or the app Feixingjia to make it easier to complete the relevant procedures.
