CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Belt and Road Initiative Sino-European Basketball Champions Cup 2024 started at the gymnasium of Yubei, Chongqing on August 29. The opening game featured a thrilling clash between the Liaoning Men’s Basketball Team from the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and Croatia's Osijek Team, delivering an exciting basketball spectacle for the fans in attendance. In the end, Liaoning Flying Leopards emerged victorious, edging out Osijek with a 63-58 win.

The Belt and Road Initiative Sino-European Basketball Champions Cup, organized by HIGHSPORT and introduced by the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, stands as the highest-level intercontinental club basketball event currently held in China.

This prestigious tournament, now in its third edition, had successful runs in 2019 and 2023. This year's event takes place from August 29 to 31 in Yubei.

The tournament invites top clubs from the EuroLeague and various European basketball leagues to China for friendly matches against CBA teams. This initiative aims to elevate the competitive standards of professional basketball in both China and Europe, support the global expansion of Chinese basketball, and foster long-term exchanges and cooperation within the basketball industry between China and Europe.

This year's Sine-European Basketball Champions Cup features the Liaoning Men's Basketball Team, Zhejiang Chouzhou Men's Basketball Team, Croatia's Osijek Basketball Club, and Russia's Dinamo Vladivostok Club, all competing for the coveted championship trophy over three days.
