CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Late at night on August 27, on a flight from Beijing to Chongqing, a little girl suddenly fell ill with a pale complexion and convulsion, putting her at risk of suffocation. The situation was extremely urgent. Fortunately, the little girl was soon out of danger after an emergency rescue by a Russian surgeon on the same flight.

The doctor who saved the girl, is Igor Izmailov, the team doctor of Russia's Vladivostok Dynamo Basketball Club (hereafter referred to as Dynamo Team), who were heading to Chongqing to participate in the 2024 "Belt and Road" China-Europe Basketball Champions Cup.

On August 30, at the Yubei District Gymnasium, Dynamo team and Osijek basketball team from Croatia presented an exciting basketball game to the audience from Chongqing. After the game, the reporter found Igor Izmailov and was told how he saved the girl on the plane.

Igor Izmailov, 36 years old, is a surgeon.

After learned that the Chinese girl suddenly fell ill, the crew repeatedly broadcast calls for help, trying to find a medical professional to rescue her.

Upon hearing the broadcast, Dynamo team members woke up the sleeping Igor Izmailov.

Without hesitation, Igor Izmailov and his colleague immediately provided emergency aid on the girl.

He recalled, "The girl was convulsing, foaming at the mouth, and experiencing spasms. My colleague and I quickly determined that we needed to take urgent action to prevent suffocation. Therefore, we performed some necessary medical interventions on her mouth, tongue, and limbs, and the situation was soon under control."

Igor Izmailov explained, "If the rescue had been delayed any further, the girl could have faced life-threatening suffocation. Fortunately, the crew broadcast the call for help in time. After hearing it, I didn't think much and immediately save her to the best of my ability, preventing a tragedy. Saving lives is something that should be done without hesitation—I just did what I was supposed to do."

Dmitrii, the manager of Dynamos team was also on the plane and witnessed the entire rescue. Dmitrii said, "In the face of an emergency, Lgor Lzmailov, as a doctor, stepped forward immediately.
