CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On August 31, the 62-day railway summer travel rush concluded successfully. From July 1 to August 31, Chongqing’s railway stations served a total of 13.983 million passengers, 226,000 passengers on average per day, up 2.1%, i.e. 294,000 passengers compared to the same period in 2023. Particularly, Chongqingbei Station recorded 7.676 million passengers, Chongqingxi Station recorded 5.157 million passengers, Shapingba Station recorded 1.139 million passengers, and Jiangbei Airport Station recorded 10,000 passengers. July 6 witnessed the peak passenger flow, with 267,000 passengers departing from all stations. The railway transportation was maintained in a safe, smooth and orderly journey.

During this summer travel rush, passengers mainly included those traveling, visiting family and students. Destinations for through passenger flow mainly included Xi'an, Guangzhou, Kunming, Hankou, Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanning, while destinations for local passenger flow mainly included Chengdu, Wanzhou, Guiyang, Zunyi, Yongchuan, Hechuan, Changshou and Fuling.
