CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 3, the Aerospace Information Industry International Ecological Conference was held in Chongqing. At the "5G + Beidou Integrated Application Forum" of the conference, the reporter learned that through the application of 5G + Beidou, lane-level dynamic navigation has been realized for the Jiefangbei underground loop roads in Chongqing. Next, 3D precise navigation is planned to be realized for the underground parking lots connected to the Jiefangbei underground loop roads, to make it easier for people to travel.
The Jiefangbei underground loop road in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, about 7.5 kilometers long in total, connects 28 underground parking lots. The complex and diverse tunnel structures bring challenges to traditional tunnel navigation, such as no location signals found, signal discontinuity, and no layered positioning.
Chongqing Mobile, in collaboration with China Mobile Shanghai Research Institute and other institutions, has developed a "5G + Beidou" precision navigation system, filling the domestic technological gap in satellite navigation for underground loop roads (tunnels).
It is learned that the system, by deploying 5G base stations and indoor satellite simulators on site, has made 5G deeply integrated with the Beidou Satellite Navigation System while making their respective advantages complementary to each other. It provides precise positioning service with dynamic accuracy of 3-5 centimeters, static accuracy of 5-8 millimeters, and depth accuracy of nearly 50 meters. This allows precise lane-level navigation in the Jiefangbei underground loop, with accurate identification of positions inside and outside the tunnel, as well as on different levels of the ground.
Lane-level navigation means that when a car is driving on a multi-lane section, the navigation system can accurately detect the specific situation in the lane ahead, such as traffic light information or congestion, and then intelligently recommends the optimal lane, guiding the driver to change lanes in advance. Additionally, the system can provide danger warnings to the driver based on situations such as merging vehicles, narrowing roads, or traffic accidents.
At the forum, the White Paper on Navigation for Jiefangbei Underground Loop Road and Applications of Tunnel Positioning Scenarios was released.
Wang Xi, Industry Director of China Mobile Chongqing Company, revealed that the next step for Chongqing Mobile is to pilot the application of 5G + Beidou in the underground parking lots connected to the Jiefangbei underground loop road, providing users with precise parking lot positioning, including which level they are on and which exit is closest to their destination.
In addition, Chongqing Mobile will gradually explore the application of 5G + Beidou in low-altitude economy, public transportation, channel inspection, and bridge and tunnel monitoring in Chongqing. (Translated by Jane, Fathom Language Limited)
