Relevant data shows that according to the preliminary projections, during the summer vacation of 2024 (from July to August), Chongqing received some 83.19 million tourist trips, up 15.3% from last year; total tourism-related consumption reached about 89.9 billion yuan, up 13.5% from last year.

Museum visits were particularly popular. For instance, the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum welcomed over 834,000 visitors over the two months of summer, an increase of 186,000 compared to the same period last year, with the museum hitting its reservation limit every day for 58 consecutive days. To provide more visiting hours to meet the demand of visitors, the museum has extended its operating hours from July 20 to August 31, with the closing time changed from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., giving visitors an extra hour.

Additionally, various scenic areas continued to attract large crowds. For example, Mexin Red Wine Town received over 600,000 tourists this summer, up 20% from last year, with family tourists making up a significant portion of visitors. Chongqing also performed well in terms of inbound tourism. According to 2024 Summer Tourism Market Report released by Ctrip recently, Chongqing ranked among the top 10 cities in inbound tourism. As of August 25, the bookings of inbound tourism to Chongqing increased by 130% year-on-year.
